crocheted baby booties and new listings!

I needed to stay busy while visiting with friends this Canada Day holiday, so I decided to hook up some baby booties.  A very good idea considering all the babies on the way in my circle of friends.  I am certainly not anywhere close to being done making booties.  There are several babies that I need to make for!

Lamb Booties: Crochet Today! Jan/Feb 2013; Bowtie Booties May/June 2010

The bunny slippers came out a little bigger than I thought they would have.  I hooked the smallest size (12 months).  I think that they’re more a size 3 or 4, so I’ll have to save them for Illianna, or my own baby (when I have one) when they’ve grown up a bit.

The little lamb booties are super cute!!  I put together a few photos that I took while crocheting them to help you over some sticky spots I hope.  They were fairly easy for me to do, but if you don’t have good control over your hand/finger tension then you will have trouble.  I’ll have to make a few more pairs of these guys for sure.  The little booties are so adorable!! I made them in newborn size with the bright varigated yarn.  I’ll have to try them with a lighter yarn in some of the other sizes.  Very plain little boot that would be fun and easy to jazz up.  Crochet some hearts, flowers, or even just embroidery something on them.  I think I’ll also dive into my tub of ribbon to pick out some fun accents when I make more.   All three booties were from Crochet Today! issues.  I have a few purchased bootie patterns I need to try.  I still haven’t made the Crocodile Stitch Booties from Bonita Patterns.  Bad me!!  I think that this might be the month of the crocheted booties and slippers. ;)

Happily I listed some lovely pieces in the shop today!

As promised here are some crochet-in-progress photo’s so show you how I made the interesting stitches in the lamb booties.  It used a Loop Stitch that requires a bit of finger dexterity!

just finished crocheting down one side of the foundation chain, and on to the next side. This is a very important step to get right.

The Loop Stitch. Instead of having the yarn going over all three fingers, loop the yarn under your middle finger.

the loop will be the yarn that is around your index finger so Yarn Over and pull through the yarn on the far side of your index finger.

once it's pulled through you can make the loop as small as you'd like.

you need to YO the yarn that is under your middle finger and use that to complete your stitch. It gets tricky with your fingers at this point, but doable!
