Moogly Squares #6 & #7

I got behind in my squares for Moogly’s CAL!

But I’m all caught up now!

Sparkle & Doom Designs#6: More V’s Please by Melinda Miller

Sparkle & Doom DesignsLooking through my past blocks I noticed I was using a lot of the peacock blue.  It’s so pretty and bright against the dark and subtle earth tones that make up the other colours of the squares.  However,  I didn’t want to over use it.  So I left it out completely in this black.  I also noticed most of my centers were dark {besides being the blue!}, so I opted to use the lightest shade this time.  I still wanted it to be dark, so I used the dark chocolate colour for most of the square.

Yarn: Herrschners’ Afghan Yarn in light brown, brown, dark brown, leaf green, and dark green.

Hook: 4.5 mm {due to thinner yarn I went down 1mm in hook size}

#7: Drop in the Bucket by Janie Herrin

Sparkle & Doom DesignsOk, couldn’t leave out that blue for very long! Guilty!  But I used it sparingly in this block, and looking to lighten the blanket I used mostly the lightest brown, accented with the next darkest.  It comes out very lovely and I think it’ll stand out nicely in the blanket.  The pattern was well written,and I was sad to learn that Janie Herrin had passed away a few years ago.  It’s nice to be using a fellow crochet lover’s work in our crochet-a-long.  I think having so many people appreciate what you love is all we can ask of the world when we are no longer here.
